Traveler Looking to Drum-up Interest in my Travel Journal

Hi all,

No, I'm not trying to sell anything! I've been documenting my family's travels for awhile and have created a Facebook page with all my pictures and journal entries.

My dream/goal is to be able to chuck it all and become a full-time RV traveler and travel writer with my family. I am trying to generate interest on my Facebook page, "The Long and Winding Road" so as to present this information to potential publishers.

So, if you're bored and looking for ANOTHER travel journal/blog to read, feel free to check mine out on Facebook and "Like" the page if so inclined. I like to think I'm kind of funny and write about our travels from a different perspective. I don't spend a ton of timing describing places in depth...there are lots of sites that do that. Instead, I spend more time on reflecting on places and journeys and how they impact my family and me.

I hope some of you will check it out. If you do, feel free to leave a comment saying you linked from here.

Thanks for all the great tips I get from y'all on IRV2. We love our new RV! It's off to CO, WY, SD and MT for a month next Saturday!

Adios....Thomas

I'm with you. I allowed 6 friends. I get dumb emails telling me I have something to look at or asking me if I know people I've never heard of. I delete 99.9% of them and sometimes go look to see what a "friend" is saying or doing. I kook at it this way - if what they are doing were really intended for me - the would call - text - or actually email me. The rest of it is their way of communicating with people on a less than Real "friend" level. Or as in this case - saying I'm not selling anything but I want to live off this - go take a look. Your price was low - like me - but still selling if you ask me. A link to blog and I would have looked. Signing in to FB - not a chance.

I follow a couple of travel blogs but can't be bothered with face book. There are interesting things that can be done with a travel blog that face book can't come close too....IMO

I actually concur with you about facebook...

Thanks for the feedback and the reply. I appreciate it.

I actually did create a website of my own and maintained a blog, photos, etc. for the past couple years of our trips. But I also maintain, and use, a facebook site because I have quite a few REAL friends and many more acquaintances who utilize fb very regularly. I learned that since so many are on facebook already on a regular basis, they were more likely to view my posts on facebook than on the website I created. Someone suggested I create an entire page dedicated to my blogging, photos, etc. and I decided to do so.

Trust me when I say I totally understand your opinions and thoughts on facebook. But I have many contemporaries who utilize it regularly and seem to appreciate my efforts.

Between teaching full-time, raising 2 kiddos and trying to be a pretty good family man and starting on my PhD, my time is limited and I have to allocate time resources accordingly. So, I'm going with facebook for now.

Thanks again for your feedback. I guess you're right...I am kinda trying to sell myself. Feel free not to buy!

Have a nice day!

Thomas
