Traveling funds?

Most of you do pay for fuel and other stuff when the credit card is asked to be left with them.
I know Cash is an option, there has to be other options.
I hate leaving my credit card with some teller.

Thanks Wes

Will it let you go over the credit card at the pump limit?

Most times when on the road I fill up at Flying J or Pilot. I have a RV card that lets me turn the pump on then I go inside and pay by Credit Card. If I am not at a Flying J or Pilot then I go inside and prepay the amount I have calculated it will take to fill up the MH. If I don't use all of the amount that I paid then the balance is automatically credited back to my card.

I use the Pilot/Flying J card which gives auto pump start and no set limit, so no need to go inside nor to restart the pump every $100.00

My AMEX card give me 4% back so I use it whenever possible. I believe it has to be used at the pump to get the 4%. I don't know if it works for diesel purchases.

Is the flyin J card a credit type card or a rewards card?

I have 'pump start' on my Pilot/FJ card. This last year, while on vacation, our credit card co shut us down while traveling. We forgot to call and let them know and when they saw activity on the card in several states, . One quick call and all was good. If you leave your card with cashier and something happens, what does your CC company suggest? Are you liable for theft of your card?

They have both. I use the revolving charge card. Must be paid off monthly.

I use my rewards card for 'pump start' then pay with my credit card that also gives us a discount on fuel purchases.

I am a trusting soul. I have traveled all over the US & Canada. I do not like to keep swiping at the pump for every $75 -$100 of fuel. After all when I buy fuel it is usually $500-$600 dollars worth.

So I always go in and leave them my card if they ask or some places you have to estimate how much so when that happens I always tell them $800 dollars but you only get charged for what you actually pump. (I have never pumped $800 dollars worth of fuel even when traveling through Canada)

I have never had to pay for any bogus charges and to date I have only had a few of them BUT the fraud department at my CC company were the ones who notified me of the bogus charges. They are always on top of protecting my good credit rating. They simply close the card down and send me a new one with a different number.

Usually the only times I has been "had" is when they run the CC through one of those old type of impression type machines where you have multiple copies and multiple ink copies. they claim that their communication system is down. It seems that one of the copies usually ends up in someones hands and then a few bogus charges seem to appear within a day or two.

I only use one CC for everything so the fraud department knows my purchase habits and routine. Their systems are so sophisticated that it can tell when you have charged something out of the ordianry for an unusual amount of money.

The revolving charge card gets me $0.6 off each gallon.
