Hi,
Livin' in a 37' Pace Arrow in Vero Beach,Fl full time.
Kinda concerned bout the storm that's a brewin'.
We've been thru some high wind storms b-4 on the outer edges of
hurricanes in the Northeast.
Wonderin' just how long to wait to make the decision about leavin' and heading west.

We are heading to the North Carolina coast Friday for a week. Looks like it may be windy! :-)

Personally, 72 hours or more. Otherwise you may be caught in a traffic grid lock. At least that is the way it is here on the Texas Gulf Coast.

Any of you folks in Florida that don't want the storm, sent it on over to Texas. I think we could use the cooler air and especially the rain.

You should be able to tell by Friday morning pretty much how strong and how close the storm will be. At that point, if the storm is bad enough you could head west on State Route 60 towards Tampa to get out of the way. Just consider it a weekend get-away....

I'm going to gas up today just in case. Gassing up once the hurricane warning is given will be extremely difficult and the Highways will get jammmed with all the other people fleeing the area. Go to the ATM today as they may not be all working by late Friday or Saturday.

The trick is to use the back roads instead of the Interstate highways. Everyone seems to gravitate to the highway to get away quickly. So they end up being a huge traffic jam. The back roads that few are familiar with are usually less used.
