Some of us have given very detailed responses to posts, then see same issue, but as I am using smart phone now, it is a pain to type a response, but advising a search may remind a poster to do that.

We then are subscribed to the thread and if more is needed we may notice while checking email from the real computer where it is easy to find the links and type

So why is the search feature so poor on this forum. I have done many searches and it really does not seem to sort using parameters needed.

Searching on google gets you iRV2 results that are much closer, and many times spot-on.
I often use google to find the right thread here. Give it a try!

The reason I ask, seems to me these forums are here to answer people's questions and enlighten people. Not slam the door on them and not make them look stupid.

I know of other forums there the questions I asked above are not only acceptable, but are the norm.
I'd say that forums are more of an information exchange with a little socializing thrown in. A forum's success depends largely on the membership and how they interact with each other, so providing a welcoming and helpful environment is important to iRV2 and we take the "Be Nice" rule very seriously.

Many times a member will sign up, ask a question or two, then disappear...never to be heard from again. Not even a "thanks". It's nice when members stick around and make an effort to contribute by sharing their expertise with others when they can. That said, people are pretty much the same everywhere; you will get a few thorns among the roses.
