TV help

Hello everyone, I have a question regarding TV recording. We are about to hot the road full time yeah... and I would like to be able to record our TV shows off of the parks cable. I can't seem to locate an answer on line. I've tried to get ahold of TiVo to no avail...Does anyone out there do this without an old VCR??

I can't afford to spend 1,500.00 for a satellite dish.. Thanks

My system is from Channel Master in Chandler AZ. Strictly over the air. Maybe I could record from cable. This system is bought and there are no monthly charges. This provides me more TV than I can watch.

A unit like this one should do. Yes this link is in Canada, but the same unit should be available in the US. It should work with what you want to do.

Some Park systems are just extended antenna cabling. They can feed into devices that can have OTA antenna input. This includes DVRs.

But many Parks use a cable TV option for delivery signal to the sites and that signal is not compatible to most recording devices.

We went with the ChannelMaster when we dumped Direct TV. More TV than we watch for a whole lot cheaper.

You're looking for a DVR that can record Over The Air Channels as well as Cable Channels (also called digital cable or called unscrambled QAM).

That means something like a TiVo Roamio Pro, TiVo Bolt, or TiVo Roamio Plus.

You can use an older PC to record TV with. I do not yet have one in our RV and we are not Full Timers but in my house I have 2 PCs (1 in living room and 1 in bedroom) connected to my rooftop antenna that allows me to record TV.

Windows 7 comes with Windows Media Center which is how shows are recorded. Windows Media Center also has a full guide and everything. Now in order to record you'll need a TV Tuner card installed, best bet since you are looking to plug into park cable is to get a "Dual Tuner" card, 1 port will be for analog signals (Park Cable) and the other Digital signals OTA Rooftop antenna and QAM from un-encrypted digital cable.

Remember you don't need the latest and greatest PC to get this to work, he PC I'm using is almost 8 years old and works excellent. You can usually search Craigslist or eBay for HTPC and find one for around $120 to 150. Also it will need Windows Vista or 7, they removed WMC in Win 10.
