The Combat Drone is Northrop Grumman's X-47-B UCAV (Unmanned Combat Air Vehicle). The vehicle stealthy, operates autonomously from Carriers, will air refuel autonomously, and prosecutes combat targets AUTONOMOUSLY! And that last one has people freaked out!!

They should be freaked out. Especially since the US Navy just had a drone run into one of their own ships during an exercise.

That was a BQM-74E Target Drone... with a "man-in-the-loop" guidance control from Point Magu...

And that is the main reason for the present push to reduce numbers in the military. The expectation is to fight future wars by remote instead of boots on the ground.

IMHO you couldn't be more INCORRECT! (SORRY, after rereading the rules I had to delete the rest of my post as I was in violation of the forum rules... BUT Ray , PLEASE ponder the number of General Officers that have been purged by the current administration... enlightenment may be at hand!)

You can fight a war without boots on the ground, but you will never win it. Without sending people to take and hold the land, and win the hearts and minds of the people, you are just making big holes in the ground. God bless our military.

Seemed to have worked pretty well in Japan, you just have to make large enough holes.

Followed by sending 350,000 pairs of boots to fill them... Occupation of Japan.

Some of them are still there!

Thanks Francesca. It didn't win the war, it hastened the end and saved countless Allied lives. We still had to occupy.

I completely agree! But then that's merely our opinion, which with a couple dollars will get a cup of coffee.

Anyway back to the topic, that stealth fighter. It is amazing to watch, fight by remote control or autonomously.
