Bought my first in the 70's car at age 17. 1970 Mercury COUGAR.
Yep, cb's were the rage, thus the handle.
Still have that Cougar and currently drive a 69 Cougar convertible as my daily driver

DpDave - Well, it comes from work. I work aboard ships that are dynamically positioned. Answering the internal phone, I said DP, Dave... it stuck.

Also involved in Digital Photography, so have a double coincidence.

Growing up my favorite comic strip was Rick O'shay and my favorite character was Hipshot the gunslinger. In my younger days I was into fast draw with a pistol using a Colt 36 Navy. A few years later I was shot in the hip, Viet Nam, and the name stuck.

When I got my first computer I was opening up a Yahoo e-mail address.
Every user name I tried was already taken and I noticed other people made up user names for something they did.
So; I figured since we heated our house with wood (woodstove) in the winter, I would be woodburner702.
Thus; woodburner. I don't know why I added 702 to the end of it but the numbers just came to me at the time.

WA8YXM was assigned to me back in around 1968 by the Federal Government. I choose to keep it when I upgraded my license.
