Very Cheap Entertainment for Retirees

...Answer your junk phone calls and play along with whatever they are trying to sell, give, won, etc. Then after wasting their time ( they’re trying to waste my time ) tell them that what you really want is not to be called again... Then you can listen to all the 4 letter words that they call you... Today I got a new name but I can’t tell you what they called me on this forum... Wife & I got a good laugh on today’s call!l!...And stay happy & healthy...

My wife hates it when I answer and play along. Good fun though.

Before my wife retired she owned an embroidery shop. When they called me I tried to sell them embroidered shirts.

The funniest one that happened recently I was at a shooting range during a match. My phone rang with a number I didn't recognize. I answered with a whisper; it must have sounded like I was in a war zone. As soon as I could verify that it was a salesperson I whispered "I can't talk right now; call the police" and hung up. I'll always wonder if they fell for it.

When we had a landline and it was a sales call I would just put the call on Hold and go about my business until they gave up and hung up. I would hang up when I got around to it. I figured if I tied up their line they wouldn't be bothering anyone else for awhile.
If it was a "survey" I would be very enthusiastic telling them I was a highly sought after professional opinion giver. My hourly rate was $300 billable at $5 per minute. As soon as they gave me their credit card information and it was verified we could get started.
I always got a silent pause sometimes followed by a chuckle and then a click as they hung up.

You don't want to call back! They spoof numbers and you could be calling over seas! Could get very expensive. We have had calls using our land line number!

Problem is when you tick them off they pass YOUR number around to others and others and others.....

Best to not answer unknown numbers OR just hang up w/o saying anything

But if they spoofed the number the number on your redial won't be the right one. I get them often from the same area code and prefix as my number. Someone left me a voice mail a few weeks back that he'd missed a call from my number. I didn't make that call.

It got so bad on my cell that I just made a ring tone with 30 seconds of nothing and made it my default. Then everyone in my contact list got a custom ring tone. So if someone calls that's not in my contact list the phone just doesn't ring. It'll be in my missed calls, and I'll see it. And they're welcome to leave a voice mail. But there's no more stopping what I'm doing to look at the screen, decide I don't know them, and ignore the call. My phone ignores them for me,

Never hang up, just lay the phone down. They will hang up eventually but you have burned precious minutes of phone time for them.

Ask them how to get alot of blood out of white carpet, about two to three gallons. They get real quiet.
