Very sad sight

Hilton Head Island: Saw a georgous Blue Bird Wanderlodge broken down at the side of the road. Large tow truck was there prepping to tow it. I believe they were leaving the Blue Bird rally that was at the Motor Coach Resort.
I do hope it turns out to be minor but still, it has to be disappointing and a PIA.
We full time so I suspect it might happen to us some day.

Be on the road long enough and you too will be on the hook. In our 5yrs. we've been towed in FL., PA., and once in the Yukon. It's no fun, but it's all part of the adventure.

We have been lucky. On two occasions, we had a problem, but were able to limp into a rest area. We used our tablets to find truck/RV repair companies that could come out to help us.

One was a broken lift valve actuator bracket, no problem to fix; the other was a total failure of the differential gearing. I suspect the differential was damaged by a previous owner's need to drag it without disconnecting the drive shaft. Bad idea.

What happens if one breaks down in a pickup carrying a travel trailer and needs a tow? Do they use a flatbed for the truck and pull the trailer?

I have had it done both ways--once a single tow with the 5er still attached and once with two trucks. One to tow the 5er and one with the pickup on the bed of the second. Guess it depends on what is available.

I have been towed back, in my semi driving days and needed a tow I was in Utah hotter than all get out. He towed me and the trailer and the trailer was full of produce.
The tow truck had 2 stick shifter's that he used, We eventfully made it up too speed. What a adventure.
I have too believe that it can be done with a 5th wheeler or trailer.
