Wall paper border

Ok, I called Tiffin to see if they had any suggestions about replacing my bathroom border. There was no way they had any 2007 border left so after a pleasant conversation with Service I formed a plan. The wrinkled original border is a product of summer heat and vinyl stretching with problems associated with the sticky glue on the back. (My humble opinion.) So having some traditional pre pasted border left from one of the bathrooms at home I am taking a chance on it sticking and staying up. My only regret is that I didn't use additional border glue but if this fails over time I only have to wash the wall and start over. Wish me luck and I will let you know in a few months how well it's going. I hope the pictures come across.

Ok, 2 hour update. It's still up <<snicker>> but I am going to have to buy a border paste, peel and reattach. It seems that this particular border didn't have quite the right amount of paste on the back as I remember. Trip to Lowe's later this week.. Been there done that in the house before. I'm so impatient!!!

I had done the same in one of my 5ers. Never a problem staying on. Looked great right up to trade in, several years later. Good luck with yours.

Thanks, Bruce C! I went to Sherwin-Williams and bought border paste. Peeled it etc. and was done in 5 minutes! Everyone loves it!

Corners will seperate due to movement.

You can cut and place the seam in the corner so movement will not cause the material to pull out from the corner.

There must be a preferred method where a small overlap may be used but not sure on that.

Cove molding is coped in with one part going flat to corner and other feathered in so movement via expansion does not make obvious gap.

The pros who do this may be of some help or contact manufacturer of the paper product for their suggestions.

Good job and sure a bunch nicer then the bland stuff that RV manufacturers seem to be inspired to use. A replacement project might even be in my future (especially if the DW sees this thread)

I like that border better than the original.

Another way to keep the corners from being a problem if to cut at the corner. Pull back the sides a bit. Touch up paint in the corner about 1 inch wide to work with the wall paper pattern. When dry use the paste and re-attach the paper. When it pulls apart the spot won't show so much or at all.

Sometimes you can use a hair dryer to heat up the paper and reactivate the glue on the back. I have done it and it worked. Good luck.
