Walmart bait and switch credit card

I fell for the walmart credit card that would give u 15 cents off a gallon of gas untill july 15 2013. I went to fill up on the 8th, and the clerk showed me the advertisement that walmart changed the cutoff date to july 8th. Needless to say I did not fill up and I have cancelled the card. No more business with those sharks. I believe they call this bait and switch. Anyone else get sucked in?

I'm sure they have an out buried in the fine print of this special card.

I would suggest you take a look at the Pen Fed Platinum Cash Rewards Card https://www.penfed.org/credit-card-overview/ It gives you 5% cash back when the card is swiped at the pump (will not work if you pay inside). Their is no limit on the rebate and is credited to your monthly statement.

At today's prices 5% is greater than $.15 per gallon.

I've been using my Walmart Discover card for several years to buy fuel and got it only for that purpose. It's always .05 a gallon off and on occasions, they change it to .10 or .15 for a period of time.
Murphy is usually the cheapest fuel around and then I always get at least .05 off a gallon.
I can't see any downside to that.....

I use the hell out of my Wal-Mart card when it's .15 off. Date changed, I guess you'll have to deal with it. The .15 happens every summer and I get .5 off all the rest of the time. I don't use it other than for fuel.

Good deal here!

Is this a Wal Mart credit card that you can use at any station? Or does it have to be at those rare WalMart gas stations?

Wal-Mart gas is called Murphy's USA.

I use my Wall Mart Gift card for ten cents off when I can, Kroger's when I can't.

Wal-Mart does not own any part of Murphy Oil Corporation.
It is on the NYSE market under "MUR"

Agree on the PenFed card! Here in the land of the HIGHEST GAS PRICES IN THE NATION, I save about .20/gallon. That's $11 bucks off on a fill up in my motorhome!

I have never been to a walmart supercenter, where there was not a murphy gas station. The card I had says WALMART CREDIT CARD. No matter what you call it, if they advertise a cut off date and then change the date. I call it bait and switch. Will check out Penn Fed. sounds like a great deal.

Did what the clerk show you say why it changed? Printers make errors in advertising copy all the time and retailers sometimes find a need to print retractions.

The problem I have with that is too many pumps have a limit per swipe and then often only allow 2 swipes. For that reason I go into the cashier and per-pay. I have run into the situation that $200 (2 swipes) doesn't even get me to 3/4 tank. LOL
