Do you ever wash your RV at a campground?

At the rare few that allow it.

DRosedale:

Yup, we've washed our rig in various RV parks many, many times since we started full time RV'ing back in 05. While there are some parks that restrict washing, most often due to understandable reasons, we still find that most are o.k. with it. For example, the soil down in much of Arizona (Phoenix, Casa Grande, etc.), which is called Caliche (sp?), turns to pudding when soaked and if that soil is what is underlying, say, the crushed rock you're parked on, you'll end up with a heck of a mess. But even there, many parks will let you wash your rig o.k., but!!...you can only wash it at least two or three days or more BEFORE you leave so site isn't rutted up as you depart. This gives it time to dry out enough to support your weight.

Other places may be experiencing water shortages and don't permit washing of rigs.

I have! However what I do like to do is make sure the front where the bugs are is clean before I leave. Even if the park frowns on washing I will take a bucket of water from my tank and a long handle brush and clean the entire front. I will then rinse by using a bucket of clean water. My brush is soft and will hold some water, enough to get the clean water where I want it.
After words I will drape a terry cloth towel on the brush and use that long handle to do a bit of drying the water spots!
This uses minimal water and it's not theirs!

I have done it at three campgrounds

1: Against the officical rules but during the dry season when it's dusty the manager asks to PLEASE do it.. Keeps the dust down.. Alas, I no longer go there as the membership company.. folded.

2: Allowed

3: Paid the fee (Four bucks)

NOTE: This motor home without a bath and shine, gets around 8 MPG tops

With a bath and a wax job.. 10

Oddly the place I stay for the winter in Tucson allows you to wash your rig (some restrictions apply) but not your Toad. But yes I use my time there to wash my rig and wax it---I take my time.

When moving from place to place I wash the bugs off---this year I made the full run from Southwest to Northwest without for some reason---wish I had not done that---it was way more difficult to get the bugs off------- they kind of liked where there were. \

It is fairly easy to determine the attitude of the park where you are by reading the information they give---some give ominus warnings---others not so much.

Oh yes----one experience in Idaho; I check in and found they encouraged you to wash your rig?? Next morning mine was covered with ash from grass burns taking place in Washington, an annual event.

Pretty situational is the rule I guess.

I do when allowed. One winter in Donna, TX the RV park didn't allow me to wash my RV; however, I could hire an outside company to wash it for me. I estimated they used at least twice the amount of water I would have. I bet the park got a kickback.

I use Dri-wash anytime and anywhere. Just about as easy as using a bucket and a brush

When traveling, I always try to use a bucket and brush to get the bugs off of the front end before they have a chance to get baked on. I typically use a waterless wash (The Solution)... after a once over with my California Duster I just spray it on and wipe it off.

Hi DRosedale,
My coach has never been washed. The products I use to not require it.

I just use the old buck and water trick. I haven't had any problems with any of the CG's I've been in so far. I have had a few folks parked near me give me funny looks from time to time. My main goal is to get the bugs off the front, but I have washed the entire coach. I do a little section at a time and try to keep water usage down. I have never tried the dry wash products on the market, but have watch some youtube videos showing how it works, looks like it cleans pretty well, just wondering about dirt you remove from one area scratching the surface on the next area you clean.

It take stuff off really well, bugs, pitch, you name it. If there is built up gobs of dirt, I just use a bucket of water to get rid of it. Then use the Dri-wash. No way do I want to scratch the paint
