Water Heater

I have a American Industry's water heater I am trying to see if there is a rod in the tank that needs to be replaced I think its a anoid Rod? Do I remove the drain plug and try taking that out and see it? Maybe they don't have one I am not sure the manual doesn't say anything about one????
Thanks for your wisdom...
Tim

Hi Tim, it look to me like someone has taken the drain plug/anode rod out at some point and made up this drain for ease of winterizing it. I am not familiar with your type of tank, and if IT is suppose to have a anode rod or not. If you did not do this, I would say that the person that made this up, put it in place of a plug. I could not imagine someone pulling a anode rod out of the tank and tossing it and just replacing it with this new drain? One never knows though
Drop RV Wizard ( iRV2 Forums - View Profile: RV Wizard ) a PM ,he might just have your answer......
Maybe one of these?

There is a u tube video on the anode rod and this is an after market that is easier to remove. However they found it does not dissolve like a traditional rod and may not protect your heater fully.

I asked the Wizard and he said if its a Aluminum tank it won't have one only steel tanks have them, So now I have to figure out if its steel or Aluminum. I bet I could use a magnet to tell if it sticks its steel if it falls off it's aluminum ???
