I too wonder where the 8 glasses of water a day came from,, now a water glass is 12 oz so that 96 oz a day.

When I was growing up on the farm and it was hay making time I worked the loft, Temps up there could easily make 100 look cool and when we came down between loads we'd drink around 2 quarts of water EVERY TIME. We needed it.. yesterday setting up the temp hit 101 and I went through close to a gallon of water (That's 128 OZ) today, in the air conditioned Motor home I'm not nearly as thirsty.

A friend of mine is an Endo at Boston's Deaconess hospital.. He tells of a case where a woman presented in convultions and subsequenty died.. When all was said and investigated what killed her was Water.. There is a "Fad Diet" where you start each meal by drinking all the water you can hold on the theory that you will thus be full and won't eat as much (This too is false since it's not the capacity of your stomach that tells you when you are full but something else) She drank so much it threw the electrolytic balance in her body off and the nerves were no longer functioning properly, Death resulted from a "Failure to communicate" between the brain, heart, lungs and other vital organs.

Too much water.... NOT A GOOD THING.

The "problem" with snopes is that they lean too far to the left for me on some subjects and hide behind how false some statistics are without answering the questions on some answers.

I don't drink soda, I do not ever have it in my house. My kids drink juice, real juice, and I drink water.

If you've ever seen a persons body's reaction to drinking a soda, you'd be scared to death.

(The physiological reaction, which is science based)

What Soft Drinks are Doing to Your Body

I don't read snopes. Any website that uses anti conservative garbage any time they can possibly fit it into a paragraph, isn't worth my time.

True. Water can kill you, an excess of most things is bad for your health. However, I do drink my 6-8 glasses a day of water. My body needs it, and I try to provide what my body needs.

Chocolate, however, is a food group.

Chocolate is nearly all the food groups

It is Fat
It is sugar
It is Chocolate
It is not salt.

All the important food groups.

More on soda.. regular soda used to be made with real sugar, beet or cane, today they use, in most cases, High Fructose corn syurp.

Now this is a great deal for the bottlers because it costs less than sugar, you get all the calories, and all the flavor, but lower cost. But wait there's more as the TV pitch man and carny barker used to say.

With SUGAR you get a Leptin response, this says "AH, Satisified, I'm full now"

With HFCS you don't so where a bottle of sugar sweet cola might just "hit the spot" with HFCS sweetened you may well drink 2 or 3 increasing sales.

And... there is so much of it. You will see over priced parts in any specialty hobby or activity. RC planes, cars, helicopters, RVs, motorcycles, boats, etc. It's not better products, just that not everybody sell the stuff and they have you over a barrel. Also, I see stuff that has labels saying it was manufactured just for that industry and you can find the same exact product at Lowe's, HD, Sears, etc for half the price.

That's one way to look at it. Another way is to call it PROFIT, which pays salaries and (depending on the company) dividends, which support those who invest in the company.

PROFIT is NOT a dirty word, despite what some people seem to think. Without PROFIT, the company goes out of business, and then it doesn't provide money to support anyone.
