Water Pump Pressure Problem

This may well be addressed someplace but I've read 100,000 posts and not found it so help if you can.
My Shurflo pump comes on only when you open a faucet. Turn the faucet off the pump goes off. It does not run to build up pressure in the tank and then turn on again when the pressure drops. The moment you turn the faucet off it goes off.

Thanks
Vagabond Jim

That's exactly the way my pump runs. The pump is an on demand pump and turns on when the pressure in the water line drops. So open a faucet, pressure drops and pump turns on. Close the faucet, pump builds up pressure and shuts off.

Jim, if the tank you are referring to is your fresh water holding tank, those are not pressurized. The pump simple draws water from the tank and pumps it to each fixture. One option is to install a pressure/accumulator tank. Your pump then will function much like a house on well water. Here is a link that shows you what one looks like. http://www.irv2.com/forums/f54/insta...cs-304934.html
