We miss camping!

We pulled 5'ers for 11 years before getting the MH in 2012. We always loved to go out to the local COE CG on weekends and just relax. We were still working back then. We haven't done hardly any of that since getting the MH! It's been mostly out-of-town trips, which we've enjoyed, but we miss just plain old camping! Anybody else experienced this feeling?

Why aren't you going to the COE campground now?

Well, right now Annette is going through major back problems and waiting for another lower back surgery to be scheduled. But that doesn't excuse all the time that's passed since getting the MH! Can't really explain why we quit doing that, except that I guess we felt that with the MH we were supposed to be traveling!

I just went through my 4th (and hopefully last) back surgery (had the L4-L5 fused). Now just the months of recovery.

She had the L4-L5 done some time ago. Now it's L5 and whatever is below that!

Best wishes to Annette for a speedy recovery and satisfactory outcome.

It may be wise to consider heading to the COE for rest and recuperation. Being away from the S&B could be therapeutic.

We are going through a little bit of that now. With our 5ers we would spend 3 week long trips at some lake or other site, and fill in the weekends. With the MH this year we tend to want to roll down the highway, across state absorbing everything we can with one night stops. The only cure for us it seems is to balance them out 50-50.

I don't know why but we have done the same thing. When we have the fiver we would go somewhere several times a season, but now with the MH it seems that we only go when we can spend 5 or 6 days...or longer. (We are not retired). And this year the only place the MH has gone is to the service bay of the dealer! We are heading out to the rally next week....and we will probably then winterize it on our return!

Good Luck Annette and Pickelhead!

Never thought much about it, but the only time we camp local or withing a 3 hr trip is when we take the grandkids. We usually only have a few days because of school.

Until this year we did a bunch of short local trips, usually to do some trout fishing. All we've done this season is several 12-14 day trips and always taking grandkids or friends with us. Looks like we'll have to head to Texas for winter to get some relaxing times for just the two of us. I'm certainly not complaining about this summer, it was just different that what we've been used to in years past.

On occasion we'll want to get away for a couple of days like you're talking about. We have 2 state parks that are both often near vacant during the week when school is in session, within 10 miles of us. The one might be only 5 miles.

We've found that as amazing as it might seem, they both "feel" like you might have traveled days to get there once you're all set up. Very relaxing (even if it rains!), and so easy to work in to about ANY schedule.... Just go!
