suppose there was an auto mechanics association with 1000 members ,some of them have a different opinion of the cause of a malfunction of your vehicle.
The ones who do not go with the "settled science" get black listed and shut down, they have no opinion. The head mechanic has the last word.

The fact that the 1000 mechanics get billions from the government (in the form of grants) to prove (read: sustain) the theory might color their view?

The difference is that the 1000 mechanics may agree that the car needs fixing, but do they agree on what caused it to break? As far as I know, there's no dispute that the world is warming. The argument is the reason for it.

This is beginning to give me a headache. My body retired in 2006 and my brain keeps telling me it deserves a rest also. Can I give it a break? For how long?
