Well, I've gone and done it this time...
Turned in my notice at work. May 1st will be my last day. First big step to full timing...
Now the real fun begins...what to keep, what to toss, what to try to sell?
Keep the car and get a trailer (RWD Mustang convertible) or get something towable? Can 2 people and 5 dogs survive in a 36 foot Class A? House is going on the market as soon as I get a couple of minor repairs done.
Six months from now I will either be thinking this was the best decision I ever made or wondering what the H*ll I was thinking...
Dave

Congratulations!
I retired in 1999 but went back to work while waiting for the DW to retire. In 2008 she put in her paperwork and that same week her daughter died, leaving us two grandkids to raise.
Now the DW's health has deteriorated to the point that she's on long term disability and can't drive. Still no idea what the cause is though.
So, do it while you can!! Life can throw you a curve at any time!

I'm betting you'll be thinking both, but ha, life is what we make it! We're part timers and still question our decisions at various times. What ever the case, congrats on the retirement and hopes for smooth travels!

Hey #66... great news. It will all work out... cause it always does. There's no beating around the bush - retirement is great! So far - 5 months full time and it's been great. Great Days - Not so Good - Great weather - not so great. Just like it always was.

PS - As someone I know always says... It'll either work out or it won't...
I say it will.

Congratulations.
We retired 12 years ago. We half time and enjoy it immensly. Once we get tired of spending the summers maintaining the S&B we will go full time. We talk about it now and then but are avoiding the daunting task of down sizing.
Of all the retired folks I have talked to not one says they wish they had worked longer.

If it wasn't for buying the Magna I planned on retiring May 1, but now I guess it'll be a while longer! Basically I'm working for pocket change or enough to fill the fuel tank.

Still a good choice but bad luck on the engine. I think Cummins could/should step a little closer to the plate. Technically they are correct and their contribution is adequate but morally they have a long ways to go.

Before putting the house up for sale, why not try some extended trips for a month or so, perhaps longer? That should give you an idea of whether or not you would like full timing, and if it works for you.

Grab life and go and don't look back. We can all wooda, shoulda , coulda, to the end of time. Our idea for going full time was " you only get one trip around the park" so go for it.

Mr D, so sorry to hear this. Life can take mny changes without notice. It's fortunate you you were able to take the grandkids, shame I all happened. I hope you will still get a chance to enjoy it. You're special people my friend.
