Were you entertained by Bob Hope?

As we approach Bob Hope's birthday, I'm curious. How many of us were entertained by Bob Hope?

For me it was 1971 and it was at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska.

1968, Dong Tam, (delta) Vietnam. Christmas show. I was about a 1/2 mile from the stage it seemed. I rotated home a couple of weeks later.

Yes 1967, Cu Chi, 25th ID. 1970, my Chinook company flew him and his group around III Corps...I was too new of a pilot to be a crew member...they just used the older more experienced guys.

Wish I could have seen Bob Hope in person! I was stateside during VN. But I did see on TV every film or live USO show I could. And to see the fine times the troops were having, especially when the ladies made sly, suggestive remarks, was priceless!
It is Memorial Day Weekend! We will have a gathering of friends and family here in camp on Sunday. Along with the standard campfire and burgers and s'mores, we also take time to honor our veterans. I'm guessing all or most RVers have family members that have served, and possibly some that fell in service to our Country. My forefathers and I served in all of the conflicts going back to the Civil War. My Grand Daughter is serving now. Nola and I salute all of you and yours that have served.
And may God bless us all!

Never saw him in Viet Nam in 1969 but flew some of his troupe around 3 corps for his shows. He was a true American...

Christmas Day 1971. Bien Hoa Vietnam. Martha Ray, Jim Neighbors, Vita Blue, Charlie Pride and others. We drew straws and the two shortest ones from each squad got to fly in from the bush ( Huey helicopters). Hot chow and a real shower plus sleeping in a bunk. My buddy an I drew the short straws and were livin large for a day. Thanks Bob!!

Da Nang Viet Nam 1969 Hill 327. The group was Bob Hope, Ann Margret and the Gold Diggers. One of the Gold Diggers had a brother that was a Marine stationed up in Quang Tri and Bob Hope set him up, he asked for a volunteer and pointed to the guy and said "get up here young man" Ann Margret grabbed him and gave him a great big kiss and a hug and then his sister came out, neither one knew that the other was going to be there. I think after that exchange with Ann that kid could POLE VAULT back to base. Bob and Ann both were a class act.

1972 Guantamao Bay Cuba, 1969 DaNang, VN when working off Hill 55. (Larry, sister hill to 327 - I was working DF) In GTMO I was able to get an autograph on a napkin from Bob Hope. The napkin has seen it's day, but you can still make out Bob Hope's signature. Wish I had preserved it better.

February 1968, the opening of the "new" Madison Square Garden. Bob Hope Show, a Tribute to the Armed Forces. Included Phylis Diller, Barbara Eden, Bing Crosby, Pearl Bailey, Rocky Marciano. Sponsored by the USO, it was free to all service members and dependents- but dress uniform required. Official opening of the Garden was a Bob Hope Show the following night...
I was stationed at Floyd Bennett Field and we lived on Governors Island, NY..
