Worked for United Airlines as a A&P mechanic (Aircraft & Powerplant) and aircraft inspector for 35 years. Worked on everything from Boeing 777 to Piper Cubs. Forced into retirement after Sept 11, 2001 and returned to the work force as a Service Technician for Senco Tools after United terminated my retirement.

In over 40 years of "doing" something, I started out in the Air Force in the Old Country as an Air Traffic Controller and later Pilot, LH and Corporate, here in Canada I was a Farmer and Businessman. I'm retired for the last 10 years, and can't wait to go Fulltime, when the DW retires on 3.31.10 from flying for AC as a FA.

2 jobs most of my life. Primary was telecom systems design engineer (made sure it got to the right place after Ding-a-Ling got it to the building ). Secondaries included truck driving, TV repair, audio systems design, race car fabricator / driver (more of a hobby), automotive electrical repair.

DW was a librarian - spent the last 20+ years as cataloging supervisor for the Arkansas State Library.

I retired at 55 in '04; she at 59 in '07.

what do or did you do for a living

I was laid off October 16, 2008 from a lumber company. I told my wife when she come home I was laid off. The school district where she works at is always looking for sub janitors. I started working for the school district as a sub janitor October 27, 2008.
I have been applying for different jobs when I see them. I've had a few interviews but no full time job offers. For now I will stay at the school district as a sub janitor.

After 4 years in Uncle Sam's Navy, spent more than 30 years railroading. Started as a laborer in the roundhouse when I was 24 years old, retired when I turned 55 as a Superintendent.

DW had the most important job, though. Besides following me around in a corporate gypsy fashion, she reared our two sons in an exemplary manner.
