What happened to common sense?

I know it's not something they teach in school, but doesn't seem to be in short supply these days?

I ordered a part for my RV online, addressed to me, care of General Delivery at the Post Office in the nearby town. I then followed up with a phone call to make sure they would ship to a General Delivery address. They sent the package via UPS! I thought it was common knowledge that something mailed to the Post Office HAD to be sent via US Mail.

I called today after reading last night's email from them stating UPS shipping and arranged for them to send another part, this time via USPS. Guess what? Tonight's email says they sent out a second part via UPS

...UPS and the USPS work together a lot, especially in rural areas. I routinely had to go to my local PO to pick up my UPS delivered package. FedEx was the only carrier that would, without fail, deliver directly to my street address.

Don't be surprised if it finally comes in the mail. I had the same thing happen, part of the way, UPS handled it.

Common Sense is no longer taught in school, nor in the video games.

Why do they call anything so Unique common sense? It has always been that way. Just that now it is coupled with poor education and a few tokes along the way.

Have received many packages via UPS at USPO General Delivery, has nothing to do with common sense but maybe your "common knowledge" is incorrect!

The USPS has a service in which it contracts with other carriers to do the final delivery of small packages, usually ones 10 lbs and under. The vendor ships the package, using a carrier such as UPS, FedEx, or DHL, to the USPS location nearest the destination. The USPS then delivers the package to the final destination.

I personally detest the arrangement. Package tracking becomes a joke, especially once the USPS takes possesion of the package (USPS tracking is a joke anyway). If the shipper makes an error on the address (not infrequent with PMB addresses), I can't originate an intercept to correct the address. Delivery time takes longer because of the extra handling.

The USPS still won't accept deliveries to P.O. Boxs from other carriers if the package is being shipped directly to the address without the USPS being contracted to do the delivery. This is just one of many reasons the USPS is losing business to private mail boxes (PMBs).
