I think the personal computer and subsequently, the internet. It's scary how important to me are my computer or android device operating as a computer, i.e., a phablet. I'm 65.

No doubt about it... Decent boxed wine. Have a glass anytime you want without Either drinking the entire bottle or spoiling the rest.

Sounds likes a man after my own mind set.

But, I would go with the Bikini, and for a close second, the thumb wheel delay box.

Computers were a great world changing invention but their use was not fully realized until the internet became so readily accessible.

Since I am alive today knowledge is key to living better and the internet has provided EASY access to that knowledge base and a lot of entertainment at your fingertips.

I happily agree, medical advancements are the most important to me. I'm still kicking after quadruple bypass surgery in '04, cancer surgery in '10 (2 more years and I'll be officially a cancer survivor), and 2 Xtra long stents in Sep. '13.

I am 65 and I would say integrated circuits as well. I got to work at Texas Instruments for 40 years doing geometric layout for integrated circuits. Did chips for calculators, cell phones, cameras, televison, and various medical equipment.

I enjoyed it so much that after retiring from TI (2011) I started doing contract layout (medical chips) for a university in Spain.

The Motorola folks went to Arizona due to heat to build the factory.

The engineers went shopping to look for ideas on how to automate the process and observed someone trying to sell a sewing machine and when they saw the zig-zag stitch they were sold.

They modified it to pickup transistor part from one place and stick it into the paper rolls for packaging.

That was when real folks used their brains...

Space travel. 54.

Face it: most of these other inventions wouldn't have happened (at least not as soon as they did) if not for the advances made through the US space program.
