A billion is a difficult number to comprehend, but one advertising agency did a good job of putting that figure into perspective in one of its releases:
A billion seconds ago it was 1973. (31.7 years)
A billion minutes ago it was A.D. 104. (1901 years ago).
A billion hours ago our ancestors were living in the Stone Age. (114,000 years ago)
A billion dollars ago was only 4 hours and 10 minutes, at the rate Washington spends it. (which is $2 trillion a year)
*today with gas at $3.10 / gallon a billion dollars would only buy you 322.5 million gallons

LOL, A Billion dollars is really impossible for us mere mortals to understand.
Steve Winn's latest mega resort in Las Vegas, probably the most luxurious resort in the world, came in at almost $2 billion.
A billion dollars funds the war in Iraq for 7 days when you take the offical figures of 136 million dollars per day. The real cost of course is much higher and that doesn't include the effect on our economy or how much more we all spend for gas as a result.
Last I heard, our government is borrowing about $500 billion a year. So the US accumulates more than a billion dollars in debt every single day.
I'm just wondering who is going to pay it all back?

To answer the original question, the best I could come up with is that a BILLION is
$1,000,000,000.00 or one thousand millions.
I always thought that the number meant something different in Canada but my research disprooved this. So I guess it's 1000 million in US or Canadian $!

Depends on where you live. In some places a billion is a million million. The UK used to be one of them. Don't know if that's still the case.

I think if I ever had the pleasure to meet Mr. Gates I would ask Bill.. Other than private a private jet and limo what do you spend daily cash on? Other than the Hollywood freaks one must get tired of designer this and designer that and just want a comfortable pair of Wrangler's. Know what I mean?
