The media are like maggots(not name calling as I said like). They don't appear to care who or what the victims are. I don't know how they get paid, but it seem like the firstist and mostist and then they research the facts.

How much is to much before something gets done. One mass shooting per week? one per day? This is an evil that I have never seen before and that includes 911.

I just saw this little bit of info put out by "Paramount Pictures" and thought, "who are you kidding". They decided to postpone the initial release of the new Tom Cruise movie, Jack Reacher, out of sympathy to the victims/their families. I'll believe this when they start assuming a higher moral responsibilty by cutting down/eliminating the violence/mayhem in a lot of movies being made today. I hope these companies go under if they continue producing this kind of junk.

As long as the news media gives all the coverage to these animals it will continue. They carry special reports all day long, even if the shooter takes their life the way they carry on he or she ends up being a innocent Martyr . It just adds fuel to some sicko's mind and makes them try to out do the one before. I am saddened by all the people that have lost their life way to early, but our sick news media thrives on this stuff and keeps it happening. JMHO and hope the forum police don't slap my hands. Jim

I have just read so many responses to this tragedy and all are heartfelt and correct. The problems with our current society have been stated, and stated by good and wonderfull people who are trying to understand this horror. There is nothing that anyone can add that hasn't already been said, there are no more words that can be said. But we all want somehow to touch and protect those young parents and their families from this grief. Everyone is correct about our society, and I believe our society is being led down this terrible road by ALL media. This tragedy will repeat with evermore frequency, until WE do more than lament each tragedy.[ moderator edit ]. We must realize that society has indeed changed. We need to protect our children accordingly.

Georgetown, just a question for you to ponder. What were the "tools" involved in the similar tragedy where 22 Chinese children were killed?

No need to respond as I realize we cannot discuss weaponry here but this is just to ponder.

Well, my two cents worth: Kids don't know how to play outside and ride bikes and use the sunset as the time to be home anymore. Doctors are too quick to put kids on medication that messes with their heads.... that's my two cents.

We have at least two generations raised on gratuitous violence. Lets look at a popular kids TV show of the 60's, Batman. Compare that to the Batman movie series of today. Compare the Sean Connery James Bond of the '60's to the Daniel Craig James Bond of today.
Look at the "slasher" genre of movies that started in the 80's, compare those to the Hitchcock suspense films of the 50's and 60's.
There is no comparison. These are just a few examples out of thousands. Younger people say those old movies are lame and not realistic. I'll take those old, lame movies any day over watching what passes for "entertainment" today.
If you want to ban something or enact more laws, ban gratuitous violence in movies, TV and gaming.
