I'm curious, I don't like horror films, but what scared the Fire out of you?

I was about 6 yrs old and watched The Birds the first time it aired on TV. Next time I was 19 in the Navy. Halloween was aired at the base theater. I then had a 3 hour drive in the dark. There was a scene where someone was killed in a car in the garage I think. Spent the whole 3 hours looking in my rearveiw mirror.

The Birds was excellent but "Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte" was my favorite as it put my girlfriend at the time on my lap with the stairway scene.

Movies usually don't get my dander up any simply cause I know it's fake, but I've had two really scare the willies out of me.

Pet Sematary. Man that one got my attention.

The Shining. When she finds his book, looks at it and sees "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy." written hundreds of times on thousands of pages you know business is about to pick up and in a bad way. A boring movie goes off the scale right about HERE!

I saw the first Halloween movie back in high school. It scared the living daylights out of me. To this day, I won't watch any of the newfangled horror movies.

However, I like many of the classics: Any Hitchcock or Vincent Price movie, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Dracula (Bela Lugosi era, not any of the new ones), The Mummy, Phantom of the Opera (Claud Rains version)...etc.

Jaws! It still crosses my mind every time I set foot in the ocean. Doesn't stop me from going in but it's still there

OMEN...hands down. I was a kid when I saw it and watched it alone. Couldn't sleep for weeks.

The Original Exorcist movie scared the daylights out of me. I was still thinking of that movie for 3 days afterwards.
