What is with the the gasoline prices now....

I was thinking of down sizing but smaller RVs that I can afford are no more economical to drive than some larger ones. Unless I spend a fortune on a small diesel rig then I'll get better fuel milage but pay more at the pump. How besides going back to tent camping can I get around this?

M2C - causes of fuel price raise (its not oil prices)- change from winter to summer blend; since they have to make the change in blends the refiners also decided to do maintenance; and the effects of Sandy. This year the summer up turn in prices started early. So its all about fuel refining and not the price of oil. Light at the end of the tunnel is oil (raw material) won't be going up for many years. At the moment the storage of oil in US at all time highs and will continue to be so as long as the EPA standards on autos continues on track without the idiots in Washington screwing it up. If anything is needed its a refinery in the midwest that can take the scale oil and turn it into fuel. Also the current pipelines that transport oil from Canada and Dakotas south are not even close to running at capacity, so the any talk about a need for new pipeline and it having any effect on prices is political BS from the greedsters and their paid for pols/network. Currently all it takes is a hurricane to hit TX and it will get real fast...a lot of refining capacity eggs in one geographic basket.

This is all so confusing! For 8 yrs I had heard if was 2 high ranking govt officials causing the high prices because they were involved with oil. They are no longer in gov't....and prices are still high? So who is really to blame? anyone really know?

Pensacola is adding 4cents/gallon to fund a transit system that no one uses....Can't make ends meet when each bus only has 3-4 passengers at any time. (Takes in $900,000 in fares and costs $4.5 million to operate)

Mass Transit only works within/between large population area(s). A small CNG bus system is the way to go for pops of 100k or more.

I watched the change of prices today from $3.99 to $4.03. Thirty days ago it was $3.31. Kinda funny how ones political persuasion "determines" who is the bad guy(s)!

Diesel is $4.67 right now in CA. I am going to NV in a few weeks and will be waiting to fill up since it's almost a $1 cheaper per gallon.

Yep, I think you got it right. Back in the early 60's my dad owned a few stations and he made 1-2 cents per gallon of gas sold. Wonder what the station owner makes now?

Anyone remember when the gas wars drove the price down instead of up??

Buddy of mine owns a couple stations and if he sold just gas he couldn't make enough to even pay for the expenses. It's the little Quickee Mart attachments that make the money, the gas just brings in the people.
