Im in SE Mn..its 3.79 around here. and they say things about overseas and what not. but i could have swore gas in Mn came from Canada.

How many know the taxes on a gallon of gas is actually more then what the oil companies make off the same gallon ?

The last time I checked, you paid more per ounce for bottled water than for gas, and I expect input costs and taxes are a lot lower on water than on gas, but nobody complains about the cost of water. Interesting.

I've never been able to fathom why people buy tap water in a bottle.

The fact that the American Public "swallowed" the nonsense that this particular industry has used to persuade us to this absurdity is quite a testament to Madison Avenue's decades-long effort to turn us into the Nation of Consumers-Not-Producers we've become!

If you ever tasted north Texas water when the lakes turn over you would fathom it, taste it and smell it. The rest of the time it's no treat either. Some places just have better water quality than others. My fresh water holding tank is only as good as what goes in it as well - inline filters can only do so much. I've been places where I thought I was going to need bottled water just to get the shampoo outta my hair. Too soft - too hard - to metallic - sulphuric - tannic. All water isn't created equally. Just my experience and I can tell a difference. Even have a favorite bottled water.

Last I heard the oil companies can explore and get oil (economic sense) from deep water and scale at $79 a barrel and above. Just heard today on Bloomberg Surveillance podcast...USA will be petrol independent middle of next decade. But it still will ride the global price winds - its just the dollars will stay in North America.

I agree and both of you Filter is the way to go not bottled water... having said that we have on hand always four cases of bottled water...earthquake preparedness.

In the last 2 months I've seen gasoline in Quartzsite go from a low of $2.999 to the $3.859 it is today.
Oil is well under $100/barrel, I think all the refineries are working, why the rise in prices?
I suspect price manipulation by the traders.

$4.72/ gal here in Winnipeg. Lots of taxes on our gas ( also smokes and refreshments). I say to all my southern friends, "that's how we pay for our free health care". lol
