What is with the the gasoline prices now....

Yesterday at 5 PM, I passed a station and the price was $3.09.9 / gal. This afternoon, as I passed at 5 PM today, it was $3.26.9. Up 17 cents in 24 hours or less. OUCH It was an Exxon station. Down the street, a Valero had gone from $3.09.9 to $3.15.9.

Last Thursday the local stations( south central Indiana) jumped from $2.97 to $3.49 in one day for no reason. Hate this game the oil companies make us play.

There is always a reason!
Could it be "need an infusion of cash from Indianna"?
Naw.
Because they can?
Maybe.
Supply and demand.
Maybe.
Its 3 bucks in Casa Grande. Why?
I dont know - third base!

Maybe they're all pitchin in to help BP with their $23Bil. fine. Who knows? Somebody can just mention the possibility of a shortage and prices go up. God help us if there is a problem at a refinery somewhere like an explosion. [moderator edit]

Please leave the political comments out of this. I know it's hard not to, but we aren't going to go that way.

I think it was because a pod of whales was sighted near four rigs...the dept of interior stopped all production until they move or eat all the little fish.

meanwhile the rig farther out owned by (insert a foreign land) is still pumping wide open into tankers headed for the gulf refiners

oh wait I am wrong it was a meteor sighted 300 million light years away that could, maybe, possibly miss us, which drove demand up for future barrels in the year 3012

this just in
for no particular reason fuel prices jumped to see if we were paying attention

I really don't feel any sympathy for anyone anymore for the gas prices, folks made their bed, now they get to sleep in it.

I think I read an oil barge hit a bridge on the Mississippi. Any excuse will work.

It's not just the price of gas at the pump, there is no rime or reason to much of what is going on today. I don't accept someone saying "Greed" as a reason as there are many companies making more profit then oil companies and no one says they're greedy.
How many know the taxes on a gallon of gas is actually more then what the oil companies make off the same gallon ?

Reason for the increase is to get the "What Will You Do When Gas Goes To $X,XX" threads started on all the forums
