What Old TV Show Would You Like to See Come Back?

Well, we have seen CBS bring back the old show Hawaii 5 O
and now I think NBC is bringing back the old show Ironsides

I wonder how they selected these two old shows for a comeback?

If you were asked..... What show would you like to see come back to
prime time television?

Me.. Mission Impossible is my first pick
Dragnet might be my 2nd.

I believe they brought back Mission Impossible once before. And it was not successful. I don't think that reviving TV shows works. Now, taking an old TV show format and adding a twist to it, that sometimes works.

The Fugitive, although it probably wouldn't be the same. They tried bringing back Dallas. I'm not sure how successful it was, but it didn't work for me.

The original format of most all these shows is available on cable. I know because I enjoy watching many of them, Taxi, Bob Newhart, Mary Tyler Moore, others mentioned like Gunsmoke and Dragnet.

I think bringing back comic books has worked ie; Spider man, Superman etc. Maybe because they were fantasy and the characters never really spoke or had more than two dimensions. Seeing them in movie format is exciting but a weekly event maybe not so much.

Let's see Superman was a TV show? Seems not to have made it to syndication.

Many of these shows aired in such different times, we were culturally ready. They seem so naive which added to the attraction, so were we. If you want a kick watch Jack Web (Sgt Friday of old) lecturing some "delinquent" about drugs.

I think if you update you get a different thing all together. And these are portrayed now in different shows different characters which will be remembered by that generation. Instead of Dragnet we get Law and Order for example and so on.

As usual I ramble on and did not answer the question.

I like the humor of Jack Benny, Groucho Marx (You bet your life), Sid Ceasar, Imogene Coca (Your Show of Shows) , George Goble, a host of others who's names are escaping me.

Taxi, to me was a classic situation comedy, great characters, great writing, great performances, and really funny in my book.

That's easy.

I've always been fascinated by one of the most famous bombers in WWII, the venerable and vaunted B-17. (See my sig).

So, the show "Twelve O'Clock High" would be my pick.

Trailer:

IMO, these aviators were some of the bravest who ever fought. And the reason I say that is I knew a coworker who was a tailgunner, and he said it was almost IMPOSSIBLE to shoot down an airplane. They just make their pass at such a high speed, that you were lucky to get a bead on them.

So the Messerschmidts and the Focke Wulfs would have a HUGE advantage, and the only way to counter them was to fly in TIGHT formations. That, and the introduction of fighter escorts like the P-51, P-47 and the P-38 to name a few.

But some of these long range missions were too far for these "friendlies", and some of the bombers were sitting ducks in the hands of the German pilots.
