At 19 years old I had a 54 Bel Air Convertible. That was my first car. Got it when the Army sent me back to the States.

Wouldn't you like to have that back now? You could sell it and upgrade to a diesel pusher.

57 years ago, I was driving a 1950 Nash Ambassador. Bought it for $250. Reminded me of an inverted bathtub! A neat feature: the front seats would lay back flat, making a bed. Watch out girls! 😎

I still have the woody and have no need for downgrading to a diesel pusher.

Family rule, non of us kids (4 sisters, 5 brothers) were allowed to drive until we had saved up to buy our own car. But my 1st was a 62 Chevy II light blue, 3 on the tree.

Let's see, that was 1965 and a good and not so good year for me. I transitioned a time or few. The first, from a 1963 Ford Galaxie 500XL with the 406 engine to a 1965 Ford Galaxie 500XL with the 390 Police Interceptor engine. That was fine - but life went downhill from there as I married my ex then and to downgrade to a 1962 Merc with way too many miles and way too little care. Then I traded 'up' to a 1964 Plymouth Fury after a really $hort but $tormy 3 month 'trial' marriage

Well let's see. 50 years would make me 14.
At 14 I was riding a Piaggio 125 cc scooter. Followed by a Lambertta 150 cc scooter. I bought my first project car at 14 1/2 with my paper route money.
A 1937 Chevy 2 door Coupe. Took me two years to build it. I got my car drivers license at 16 and when my Dad came home from Vietnam I finally got it finished, licensed and registered. So I let him test drive it.
Big Mistake!
It had a Small block Chevy motor, 4 barrel carb and 4 speed transmission. It was pretty fast when I finally got it built.
He took it around the block, lit up the tires and got it sideways on dry pavement.
Then He pulled up, parked it and looked me straight in the eye and said " Sell It! Because there is no way I'm going to let a 16 year old kid drive a car with that much power.
And that folks was the beginning of my sickness. I bought a 4 cylinder sports car with the money I got from the old Chevy and started racing them. Spent the rest of my life building mouse motors into monsters!!!
Still at it, only now I build them without spark plugs. I have turbos just sitting around on my shop benches like some people have old carburetor collections.
