In 1965 I was driving a 1954 green and cream Chevy Belair 2 door sedan stick shift. It was hand-me down from my brother who bought a 1957 copper and cream Chevy Belair 2 door hardtop with a 283 and Powerglide (which didn't last, but the 3 speed with Hertz shifter he put in did.)

The pictures aren't mine, but google does a good job recalling... The only difference was that the 54 had the outside sunvisor that made it super cool and super hard to see traffic lights if you pulled up too close...

In 65 I drove a 59 Ford Galaxy that was special ordered by the first owner. It was loaded with power everything. It had the 361 Edsel engine from the factory that put out 300 plus hp. It had giddy up go.
Then I traded that for 64 Impala SS 327/300 hp 4 speed. It had been painted Candy Green and had a black vinyl roof. Oh yeah it had Reverb on the radio.

My daily driver was a 1961 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce Spider. Still driving Alfas but I wish I still had this one - really good examples are selling for $75 - 100,000 these days.

I was driving a 1973 Chevrolet Chevelle Laguna. It was my first brand new car. I had a Chevrolet Corvair, 66 Ford Mustang and a Dodge Dart GT before it.

One of these. Straight 8, Dyna-flow automatic transmission. Except I painted it yellow body with an orange roof.

Of course, it was my first car and it lasted about 3 months. My GF bought a 64 Pontiac so I bought her Impala. It looked exactly like this one, right down to the white walls and the powder blue upholstery.

I was driving 1956 Thunderbird. 312, 3-speed manual w/overdrive. Both soft and hard tops.

Bought it for $900 that year, sold it in 1968 for $1,000.

Should have kept it (and lots of others!) - would be worth MUCH more today.

50 years ago I couldn't afford much in the way of transportation. I happened to find a 1937 Ford 1/2 ton pickup. It cost me all of $25.00. I had to throw in another $15.00 for the new spare tire laying in the garage.

It was quite the machine. It had a 65 hp flat head V8, a 4 speed transmission, and a locking steering column. The heater wasn't much, and you would get a whopper of a headache if you used it too much. It was nothing more than the exhaust pipe routed through the passenger compartment. It had fins on the outside of the pipe and a fan to blow the warm air at the drivers feet. Needless to say the heater among other things had seen it's better day by 1965.
