That was similar to a friend of mine's first car. Those three "holes" on the hood were called "cruise air venta ports". And it had air compression driven windshield wipers that sped up as you accelerated. How's that for having weird memories? It was a pretty good car and he kept it for years.

In '65 I was fifteen with a learners permit. My dad let me hone my driving skills in our dark brown 1962 Plymouth Valiant. My mom finally sold it in about 1995. It had less than 25,000 miles cos she only drove it to the store once a week and to church on Sunday!

A 1959 T-bird convertible with the 430CI interceptor engine then switched to a new 66 Mustang.

First car 1956 Chevy, ten years old when I bought it with only 12,000 miles on it. All four tires blew out within a couple of weeks. They weren't China bombs, just dry rotted.

Fun thread. Personally, a Schwinn Sting Ray was my go to vehicle at age nine but still have the traces of a scar just above my kneecap from my dad's 65 Chevy Biscayne (company car). They both smoked and dang if that metal ashtray didn't bite me.
My mom's car was a 62 Buick Invicta convertible (the next year was the Wildcat) dumb name but very cool car.

By 1965 I had graduated to a 1963 Galaxie, two door hardtop, 352. On a real good day it would get about 12 miles to the gallon if I was lucky with a tailwind.
Other than that, it was the love of my life.

I guess I should add a Farmall 230 tractor to the Ford 8N. It's what happens when you grow up on a tobacco and horse farm.

White 56 Chevy 2 dr Stick Shift. I paid $375 for it, I was making $3.50 per hour at the local Firestone Store, part-time, my senior year in High School. I could take my best girl to the movies for $5.00 (including a stop for a Coke at Pizzio's in Pompano Fl. Gas & insurance was cheap-I had money for anything I wanted. Life was good.
