Family cars

In 1965 I didn't own my own car, so I was relegated to driving the family snoozers. We had a 1962 Volkswagen Beetle and a 1961 Chevy station wagon, 283 w/"Grade Retard" 2-speed automatic. Sometime during the year we traded the Chevy for a Dodge Dart station wagon. 225 Slant Six.

That was my very first brand new car, a 1966 Red Dodge Dart Station Wagon Slant Six. Brings back memories.

Welcome to www.flexy-racer.com

This wasn't mine, belonged to my friend across the street but we all loved taking "Death Runs", down the street near our house. Nice long down hill with 90 degree left turn at the bottom.
The Flexy had a dual front friction brake, and would stop you instantly "if you ran into something"...
I'm sure most of if not all of us on here would love to have that Ole Car now... I really enjoy re-reading the posts on this thread.. Thanks Everyone For Great Pics.

My first Bicycle,
I used to put Balloons in the front spokes and I thought it sounded like a big Motorcycle. Boy what memories, I tried showing the Kid's in the Neighborhood and they had no interest Maybe I'll try it on my New Boardwalk Bicycle

A Rupp mini bike... About that time my Dad built me a two seater go kart with a 3 speed Crosman (sp?) transmission, (with reverse) ... I used to take the neighbor girl my age for rides, until she became a cheerleader...

From previous post 50 years ago: '61 Studebsker Lark. First NEW car: 1970 NSU 1200 TTI with 73 ci & 69 hp. It only weighed 1470 lbs. it would run away and hide from most 'true' sports cars back then. I wanted to mention it to see if anyone was familiar with it.

I know the brand well, was bought by vw and merged with auto union (now audi) and was the first manufacturer to offer a wankel rotary engined car (one of my favorite engines). I know some of the history but have only seen a couple nsu's in person
