I once had an elderly neighbour (formerly from NY City). Now this woman was born in 1900. That meant during the era commonly known as the "Roaring 20's", she was a young woman living with her sister in NYC. Her sister was a seamstress for the Zigfield Follies and they both would attend alot of the theater District and Society parties. I don't know if you know much about history but the excesses of the 20's made the 60's look almost Puritanical in comparison. And this woman would tell us amazing stories about the big parties she went to. Yet, she would get all upset because of bikinis (so why was she in FL?) and things she would see on TV (no cable at that time) and billboards.

And if the stuff they show on HBO/Showtime/etc (which is about all she could have seen because the XXX channels cost extra to see) upset her, then she shouldn't be allowed to touch a remote! Then again, maybe it was TLC or Discovery and they were showing yet another "birthing a baby" show or what my kids call "yet another reason why we don't want to have kids". Or even worse the plastic surgery stuff (ick!).

You will always find something that someone will decide is an insult to their sensibilities (like the idiot teacher who wants the Curious George books banned). Personally I think that Nickalodeon needs to be banned (and it was one of the few channels that my kids weren't allowed to watch) because I think that it helps to dumb down kids. But that's my opinion and I could simply change the channel. But I don't want others protecting me from myself because they think it's in my best interests. I bet that old lady watched the afternoon soaps... ever see those! And the things they show because they aren't in the highly restricted "Prime Time" slots. Oh BTW, my above mentioned neighbour also got very upset because they would show a couple sleeping in the same bed... on the afternoon soaps... the ones she never missed an episode of!

Now we get some more details about the elderly person that was missing.

Maybe we need a new government commission to design some labels and administer a program to see that all public TVs and Remote Controls have proper warning labels affixed so that people devoid of COMMON SENSE can be protected!

This woman obviously has serious mental health problems. Anyone who has a panic attack while surfing TV in a hotel room, needs professional help.

I strongly object to giving up our rights to enjoy life as normal healthy adults. Every TV show does not have to appeal equally to 4 year olds, the elderly, and the mentally ill. There are many choices in life. When I don't like a show I change the channel.

The fact is we are all different and we have entirely diffent needs and desires. That is why there are thousands of different magazines and a hundred and fifty different channels on your TV. There are all kinds of options something for everyone. This woman should probably never turn on a TV set until she gets help.

I think we still live in a free country don't we?

Thats too bad. I used to be like you but age has opened my eyes to the changes and frailties that come upon us when we get older. Some day you too will feel the effects of advanced age and then you will hopefully be singing a different tune. You may then very much appreciate younger people who will cut you a little slack because the effects of advanced age have left you a bit vulnerable.

We shouldn't label a fine elderly woman as having serious mental health problems only because they are now facing the delicate composition of someone in the winter of their declining years.

We could be talking of a mirror of your future self here.

Regards,

Neil

While this topic has deviated a bit (like all topics do), has anybody besides me noticed that the person who started this thread has managed to not post the name of the supposed park? Could it all be a hoax?

Of course this was a troll! Posts of this type almost always are. The original poster throws some garbage out there and then disappears. Amazing!!!

According to this Radarr states there is a "number of exclusive resorts" and not just limited to one place.

Ok Radarr, what is the name of the management company? Name the resorts! Why post this stuff and not back it up! I get offended by the "thought police" wanting to invade my space. I'm going to say out load what everyone else is saying.

We are having a hard time believing this!

Why does this matter to you so much. I would have a better time believing this if the post started off with the names & places and then a general FYI.

Yeah, right!

Proverbs 6: a warning against folly.
Does any part of verse 14, 17 or 19 pertain to you? I bet you know what this means without looking it up.

If you would like to tell us the name of this management group we all would like to know. If not, then the question is: Why post at all? This is a public RV forum and not the debate society for Jerry Falwell.

I think now is the time to put this back on track. The underlying belief that they can track you is sound. The thought of this happening is real. Yes, it can be done.

The reasons for not posting names or places could be a straight out fabrication to not wanting to get his host in trouble with the RV community or a sales slump at his resorts. It could even be a way of trying to make us think about PORN like it's illegal. It may or may not be "moral" but that's none of anyone elses business. Ones self has to decide what is moral or not. You have to make your own way in society.

Some people might like his approach and will want to stay with them. This might be there best form of advertising. If he has such strong convictions then posting there names would only help!

Well, why not post then? What is it? Why did you post at all? With all of the posting you have done what makes you think that this is OK? Be a man and tell us so some of us can be saved at these places, I have an 8 & 5 year old and I might want to stay there.

We live in a society that allows this type of behavior. If you don't like it then send donations to your favorite politicians to get them to change the laws. Donate to a PAC or something. Please, don't post it here.

I don't allow it in my house. I do respect the rights of others to engage in lawfull activities. Right now this is lawfull. All I ask is that you allow the people the option to stay at his places or to avoid them.

This reads like one of those bad internet hoaxs and should be placed in the trash can.

After reading this thread, I'm supprised that the camp ground owner just didn't delete the porn chanels and then if any complaints came, just say he didn't know what happened to them. He handled a situation that he had total control of and probably would have had not complaints from anyone but he made a big deal of it and probably cause a war. Very stupid on his part if you ask me.

Also,

quote:

In the past, I tried to get "unsubscribed" by clicking on the unsubscribe link, but 99% of the sites didn't have anything on the unsubscribe page. And why do I need to unsubscribe to something that I didn't subscribe to anyway.

Never unsubscribe to any of this crap. It only lets them know you are really there and it will increase your spam. A good bounce back program that makes them believe your e-mail address is no good is the best way to get rid of the bad ones.

I've been away on business and didn't realize that you folks would carry this topic this long. The name of anyone or the place is not relevent, it's whats going on out there that is.

I was present at a meeting along with more then 350 other folks when we heard about what our fellow RVers viewing habbits were. It surprised me as well as it did others. It seems that rving has taken on a totally different segment of personal enjoyment. Wether it's been there all these years or not, or that it's just not been recognized, it's there now, and I personally think it's a shame.

"Sad and sick" were the words that came from folks, my senior, that had hurt and dismay on their faces and in their eyes.

Radarr with all due respect the name of the RV Park is relevant. I don't know about you but if a park doesn't want my business I'm happy to drive down the street to a park that does want my business. It also validates your story. Otherwise this starts to sound like a fanatical religious agenda with no basis in fact, otherwise known as BS.

It's important to keep in mind that RV folks are just like the population in general. We all like different things. We still live in a Free Country. That may be open to debate. However, at this point we can all live our lives as we see fit.

So which is it? Did you say it like in your first posting on page one or was it someone else? There are way too many contradictions for my taste!

If I was an attorney crossing you I would have thought that I hit the Trifecta!

The one thing that is always clear when your dealing with a (Originally posted by Vegascpl) "Fanatical Religious Agenda" is an ability to start trouble and then feel they are morally superior, that there actions require no further validation from anyone.

There are lessons to be learned from this that speaks louder then the content of a pack of unbelievable statements!

Next time start this off with "Once Upon A Time..."

You really should let all us good folks like you know where we can be free of this trash. This is your moral calling and you should answer it for the sake of my 5 & 8 year olds and all of the children. Without morally pure children and there parents this society will have no chance. I do not want there eyes tainted by PORN! Please Radarr, help me find the places that are pure! Where are they all?

Last time I'm going to post to this even if Radarr wants to respond.

Questions Radarr:

Did the owners tell you not to tell anyone else? He gave this statement to a group of 350 people. This should fall under "open use"

Besides removing the smut channels and monitoring the web what other "Big Brother" things is this place doing? Are they listening to phone calls? How would you know if they were or weren't?

Besides some conviction known only too you, would you like to explain your statements anymore?

Here is a chance to straighten this sinking ship: Was this person at a church function when he said this? It might be that he was pandering to a group of people who might look positively on this kind of stuff. This is the only "out" I know that could explain your actions. Your protecting your church. I can understand that.
