Forty footer with ISL 400 towing a Ford Explorer and usually with dash air on typically driving about 64 mph... I've averaged 7.2 mpg over 50,000 miles.

I enjoy trying to maximize mpg by watching the "instant mpg" gauge and can get it closer to 8 mpg if I'm on flat and level... but once I need to start climbing it all goes out the window.

Gasser W22 chasis, maxed out on weight and towing over 48,000 miles rough average 7.5 mpg. I have kept an informal record for the ten years I have had the MH.

I drive at 55 mph and average 8 to 8.75 mpg on flat terrain and not towing. Flying J and Pilot Truck Stops have a fuel discount program that discounts gas 3 to 4 cents a gallon and diesel between 4 and 6 cents a gallon.

My only real trip was last week. We covered about 1220 miles from Florida into north Georgia. My coach is a 1994 National dolphin 34D with the Cummins 5.9 CAC and Allison 6 speed. This unit is smaller than a lot of the ones posted here, but we were pulling a 2800 lb car on a dolly. Still, my diesel usage was 10.6 mpg. I kept to 60-65 mph for the trip out, but coming back, I pushed a little more and kept to 65-70. Still, I think that's pretty good. This unit has the older engine with mechanical injectors. I'm just glad it wasn't 5 to 6 mpg; I was concerned since this is all new to me.

We just finished 4600+ miles from Texas to Calif (Carlsbad), up the coast to Reedsport, OR, across to Glacier, Rushmore, and back home. When I pulled into the driveway i was reading 9.3Mpg with the Cummins 340 ISB pushing the 40ft MH, towing a 2007 Saturn VUE. I was happy.

Drove the speed limit where applicable and where the speed limit was higher I stayed between 62 and 64 mph.

I don't worry about it, I didn't buy a MH to get great fuel mileage.

I have a 27' 1984 Winnebago Chieftain with a 454 gasser. I have driven it about 5,000 miles since we got it and I average about 8.5mpg. We are not full timers so we buy gas like stock. Before a trip we watch the prices and after they have trended down for a while we fill up. Buy low!

Best mileage with our V10 Class A (just shy of 37ft) was 14mpg!! (that's with the strong, coastal wind at our back for most of the trip). But we average 12. Keep it at 60mph on the highway, check tire pressure before each trip, anticipate hills by building up speed before you hit the bottom, and be easy when accelerating. Also, if I know we'll have full-hookups, we won't fill the fresh water tank. I usually shop around for gas. A few of the grocery stores are working with gas companies....offering deals so many cents off a gallon, if you buy $50 or $100 in groceries.

I get the MPG it takes at the MPH needed to get me to where I want to go in the time I want to get there.

Sure, we all want to save money, but if your MPG stresses you out, what fun is that?

We just bought new dodge 1500 hemi. Tow 29 ft TT. Just got back from Florida and got 8 mpg. But when DW drives it worse than that. I try to drive for the most part. Not because of mileage I just don't like fearing for my life.
