Campfire pollution. It's the most toxic unhealthy thing you can do while camping. 2 hours around a campfire is the equivalent of smoking 30 cigarettes. A while back, no one knew any better. We all thought we were "getting back to nature". I guess many still aren't aware because they leave a campfire burning from the time they prepare their breakfast on it.
This is why they invented and sell propane campfire pits.

Come on a camping trip to a campground with out a campfire the word there is CAMP. Smoke in a hotel not good smoke in a campground normal if you don't like the smoke stay in a hotel. Some one coming over to my campsite and asking me to put out my fire because the smoke bothers them will not end well.

Campfire smoke bothers my health, but that was my own fault. I certainly wouldn't try to deny anyone a Campfire, it's un-American fire danger index, maybe, but THAT'S what LP pits are for

I read this, and was a good boy and let it go, but I see others have commented, and I cannot ignore it any more.

WHAT is going on here? When I read this for the first time, I thought it was a joke. I cannot believe this is so.

I can surely believe that a person with a lung impairment would not enjoy a campfire, if they were in the smoke, but I cannot believe that statistic about 2 hours at the campfire is the same as 30 cigarettes. I just cannot get my head around that. Is there any proof or study that shows this to be so? I would like to see how they document this...

By the way, cigarette smoke is inhaled into the lungs on purpose. It has an impact on the blood and other organs in the body. 30 cigarettes is a pack and a half.

And when I am at the camp fire, and the smoke blows my way, I move. Or I get a left handed smoke shifter...

I don't have any peeves with normal wood fires. It's the garbage burners (mainly plastic) that make me steam a bit. Not that I'd do anything about it, I don't do confrontation.

Unfortunately, it's not the fault of the young people in most cases. It's the parents that let them eat junk all their lives instead of giving them healthy meals! When they get older they just continue the vicious cycle!

Then there are some that have health problems that cause them to be overweight, no matter what they do!

That along with TV and food becoming the babysitter.

With 2 working parents, or just 1 parent, the house work took up most of the the parents home time.

My newest pet peeve is dental hygiene. I thought seeing cigerette butts all around the campground and scenic beautiful overlooks as bad, but at our last campsite, I counted 17 of those one time use white plastic flossing picks that look like a devil's pitchfork with a short piece of floss glued between. How can some people be so gross!

So my top picks so far are campground fires where someone is burning plastic, cigarette butts and dental pitchforks!

I agree. Kind of creepy seeing them on the ground. We both use them but just put them in our pockets and toss them in a trash can or take them home.

This happens frequently with browsers other than Internet Explorer. I use IE then switch to Firefox after logon. Happens frequently at McDonalds and with Tengonet.

When people walk their dogs on other people's site (especially mine!)! Even worse, when they don't clean it up after walking their dogs on other people's site. I have 4 pomeranians & either use my site or if there's a dog area around. If you don't want poop on your site why do it to someone else's?
Drives me crazy!
