We were checking in to a hotel in Orlando for a conference. Despite having a pre-paid reservation, the desk clerk insisted that we had to pay a $15 'resort fee' before he could check us in. Since all I could see was a hotel building and a parking lot, I asked what made it a resort? "We give you a pass to use the pool at the YMCA next door". I just had to say "Seriously?" To the manager and he withdrew the fee.
