In South Florida there is a chain called AmericasBest. My wife paid $49. for lenses and frames but the quality of the frames is mediocre. The glasses pop out of the frames. I went to a place called Eyeglass warehouse and paid $35. for lenses and frames but again the quality of the frames is fare to poor. They are metal frames and they are turning green after 9 months. I never found eyeglass insurance to be a good deal. You can find glasses that cost less than with the so called discount. I'm not sure you are getting a good deal at Lenscrafters but quality of frames should be considered in the cost-benefit analysis.

America's Best started at something like $29.95, but have gone up, like everything else. "Eyeglass Warehouse" doesn't include an exam, last time I checked.

I get mine from the VA. I can get 1 pair a year. They pay for the lenses and I pay for the frames. Their frame selection leaves a whole lot to be desired.

I've heard that about their Drs too!

America's Best does have a good frame selection. I'm hard on glasses and always get the one with the spring loaded frame hinges that expand when over flexed.

The last pair I purchased were from Walmart. I couldn't believe the quality of the lens. Their thin and very light and comfortable to wear. They are Varilux lenses which are quite expensive but I have never had anything this clear. They were quite expensive but for the clarity of the lens I wouldn't hesitate to purchase them again. They are progressive have the transition feature and I had the reflective coating applied. The lenses alone were $438 but again I feel they were worth every penny. JMHO
