Let me think... I'd have turned four in November.

Snowy, a blizzard.

Dad started the Chevy with the door open, the exhaust drawing a circle in the snow of the alley. Chains on rear tires. Seats were still cold when we climbed in, being told to knock the snow off our boots first.

Since something big was on TV at noon, dinner was planned for later, and I wasn't happy about the delay. Promise of Peppermint Patty from top center drawer in bureau to the left, in the dining room. 'Was told the Viewmaster would have to wait until later. Channel 5 was tuned, lots of fuss about the sound level reaching those on the sofa in front of the piano.

Blinds were rotated to block out the glare from the front lawn's thick dusting of snow. Cooking smell coming in from kitchen was driving me crazy, Mom stopped me from eating more peanuts from the dish on the coffee table. They talked a lot about youthful president being hope for nation, argued about whether or not he was too young to hold the office.

Lots of discussion about his wife, her background, the suit with matching hat. He started speaking at ten 'til one, the adults hung on every word. White tablecloth, freshly waxed wood floor. One or two books on my chair. Dad told us to sit up straight. Much talk about the speech, how the new president didn't hold a candle to Truman, etc.

Other than that, I can hardly remember a thing.

Oh boy, Lori will celebrate the BIG 50 this year!

Where's the party?

As for me. I would have been in third grade, couldn't tell you where exactly, but probably somewhere in WA state.
