I was 6, in first grade (this is Marilynn) at Marine Elementary School, Marine, Illinois (Population 999, then). I don't remember the inauguration, but I sure remember the day in 4rd grade when our vice principal called over the intercom system for a moment of silent prayer for our president, as he had just been shot.

I was a certified nerd at Hopkins High School, Hopkins, MN. I have since upgraded to 4 alarm dork with 3 degrees of difficulty- all the while maintaining a perfect score in the all around nerd catagory. Currently circling the drain.

I was in High School, in Marion, Indiana, looking forward to getting out. The day President Kennedy was assinated I was serving in the U.S. Air Force, a terrible day.

I was 22 years old working as a full time guard tech in a CSMS shop as a wheel and track mechanic. After almost 30 years I retired as a QC supervisor. Owned a tent then so with 4 kids it was a challenge to go camping. Yes, things do change.

I had just made Chief Electronics Technician at the Coast Guard Loran Station, Port Clarence Alaska. 80 miles NW of Nome. No phones, no TV. Only short-wave radio and teletype. Saw the inauguration a few months later on "Movietone News" with the movies from the logistics flight.
(the good old days)

I was also worried about the President's religion because I had heard somewhere that Catholics had to eat fish on Friday...every Friday.....if a person was Catholic, they had to eat fish...period...that was their religion!

I was afraid that when JFK became President that he would make it a law that every American would have to eat fish every Friday

.....and I hate fish!

Yes the reason was a Southern thing and looking back his idea's where more conservative than we thought and we would have Voted for him today.

50 years ago, I was always ripping off my diaper and parading around the neighborhood. My mom had to hook me up with a harness that was tethered to the close-line so I would stay in the yard.

I was in the 10th grade and saw Ike greet JFK. Then study hall was over and I had to go.

I was stationed in and on manevers in Germany. I was also 3 months away from marrying the love of my life which happened on March 31, 1960. WE are still married and last year celebrated our 50th Anniversary with a RV trip to Alaska and back, 11,361 miles.
