Where's the restroom?

Took a train in to Toronto today. We're in Union Station and need to go potty. We walked all over the place trying to find a restroom. We finally started asking people, "Could you please tell us where's the restroom?" They blankly looked at us and said they didn't know. We finally found it. It's then I remembered.....they call it a washroom. I think they had no idea what we were asking. When in Rome, talk like the Romans....

I certainly hope you are trying to be funny or do you really believe that Canadians wouldn't know what a restroom is? Or should I say eh!

You weren't looking for a room to rest or even wash in, you were looking for a toilet. That's what they're called in Australia and England!

When did Toronto become part of "French Canada?"

I'm not following .....one person misunderstands something spoken and everyone in Toronto has no clue what a restroom is? How was the rest of the trip?

Probably didn't misunderstand. Perhaps was taken by surprise that some random person is asking for the bathroom (oh look I used a different word for the crapper and I'm Canadian) just because a person is standing in Union Station doesn't mean they know where the commode (this is what they call it in Kentucky, I'm international). is. I wonder if dancehick knows where all the facilities are in all civil buildings in the major city that she lives in.

I guess on a serious note the best advice I can give is this. When you are traveling don't just expect random people to have the answers, they could be tourists too, or at least from out of town. Always look for an information kiosk or someone that works there and ask them. That way you can get reliable information.

Now I just need to be able to access emoticons on the iPad app for :shakeshead:

Can someone tell me how a post on this group seems to have disappeared? There was a post on here with mention of "French Canada" that has gone AWOL?

I didn't see one myself. I suppose the only way is if a mod deleted it.. But I think if they take any action it's usually just by locking a thread.

I think I misunderstood. You meant your post above as Johnrr mentions? It's up there.^

Number 4 above is my response to a post that said Toronto was in French Canada and that post is gone? Starting to make me think I was seeing things

And this is why I hesitate to get involved and post anything. Lighten up people. The Canadian we made friends with at the CG thought it was funny, and he understood.
I'm outta here.

Sounds like a longer hesitation was in order. Probably should have used methods to let people know it was a joke as well. I'm sure your Canadian friend found it funny because it was clear it was a joke. On here you didn't make that clear.
