I do like the various Balvenie singletons but variety is the spice of life.

Nice going, you posted all the correct information except for your address. If I start now I could possibly be in your neighbourhood by a week Thursday.

Hey Possum, Steve's avatar and information has him in Plano, TX. I'll bet we can find his address from the locals. Especially those selling booze.

Now steve, I think I mentioned before, but just in case. Sometime around 28 years ago I bought a bottle of Glenfiddich 12 year old single malt. It has been in a dark cabinet ever since. That makes it 40 years old. I just need an occasion to open it.

Can you imagine, I think I paid around $15-$18 for it.

On another note, DW likes an occasional Vodka Martini, olives only with the Vodka. On our last trip on a whim we picked up some flavored Marshmallow Fluff Vodka. Dang! It was smooth. Then on turkey day I tried it with some OJ. That stuff could be addictive.

No it will never take the place of my scotch, but it is a nice change.

Went back to review your preference and only found "neat". You can bring the "neat" with you but Annie prides herself on being a great hostess. So - list preference so we can stock it, check profile and send a PM when you're a day out.

I like a smooth whiskey like Pendleton w/ a bit of water.

Something different is Belle de Brillet Pear liqueur. 30% alcohol by volume. A blend of macerated pears (20 lbs of pears per bottle) and Brillet cognac.

Expensive, but I can make a 750 ml bottle last a year or more. Put it over vanilla ice cream, in a small snifter or try a Martini: 1/3 BdeB and 2/3 vodka. (Yousa!). Have not tried this yet, but it is recommended 1/4 to 3/4 champagne.

Wayne - I know you're aware that Texas has some funny laws when it comes to booze and I think carrying wire cutters in your back pocket.

The county here - just north of Dallas is beer and wine only. That's why we bought the Motorhome. Gotta pack a lunch to go buy scotch. Lol. Not that far really - maybe 10 miles south or 15 north. We can go into a restaurant and it's full bar - but can't buy it to bring home without going to the next county. Hard to figure but when I moved here - all restaurants serving liquor were private clubs with a membership card and there was no beer or wine in stores of any kind. We've come a long way in 30 odd years but this imaginary line for liquor is just plain silly. The liquor stores are at the first exit into the county.

But your right, we're not hiding up here. We can be found.

If you have a 40 year old bottle of Glenfiddich you just became my best friend!

It doesn't improve in the bottle - all the aging takes place in the cask. Once it's bottled it's the best it will ever be. What you've got is a 28 year old bottle of 12 year Scotch.

I've tried whiskey some of them quiet excellent. However I've never acquirred a taste for it. I'm a tequila drinker. Patron, Tres Meujeres and some others. Also drink Guinness. Could never stomach what the call beer that's generally made in the US, Coors, Bud and the rest.

Not scotch, but for a very nice bourbon, Woodford Reserve Double Oaked.

Alan, I know that, but Steve and MRRB plus others don't, so hush up now.

The only glass that can age something is a mirror.

Full disclosure - in another thread or PM Wayne already taught me it doesn't age in the bottle - but he seems to be the only one that needs to know.... Try as I might I can't seem to keep good scotch around long enough to matter.

Thanks also for the tip about mirrors. I thought mine was inoperative.
