I know this is an old thread, but still feel compelled to post...

The Colorado whiskeys are really making a mark. Fireside, Tincup and Breckenridge are very good. I prefer them on the rocks.

It's not as old as whisky.... cause it never gets old. Whiskey too.

My favorite is Eagle Rare, from Buffalo Trace distillery. Although I just picked up a bottle of Larceny in Chicago this week that is very good also, and only $20.

I've found a couple of new favorites lately.

If you like Ryes try Pendleton 1910.

My new favorite single malt is Balvenie Caribbean Cask

There are a TON of "artisan ryes" that have come out lately with labels that will fool you. Most are made at an old Seagrams distillery in southern Indiana. Some are actually pretty good, like Bulleit and Redemption, but don't get fooled thinking you are getting something really rare or hand-crafted. Check the label for the distillery.

Since we've revived this lovely thread, I must mention that I've found store here in the US now carrying the "new" Glendronach. In general they age their whisky entirely in sherry butts, and it's a wonderful dram. I was fortunate enough to acquire the bottlings from old store that were sold when the new owners took over (before they became $1,000 bottles!) and was quite sad when it became super expensive and then disappeared, but the new stock has much the same flavor.

I might like a little taste of Jameson Irish Whiskey. But in memory of my 97yr old Aunt that passed away last Tuesday Morning, She liked "Wild Turkey 101" 4 fingers over 4 Ice Cubes, with a cup of black coffee as a chaser.
