Grew up on the Atlantic now live on the Pacific, gotta admit I like this side better. Lived on Deer Isle Maine for a summer way back when and I don't even think I put a toe in the water.

Who Hasn't seen the Ocean
First time i saw the Ocean and the beach was about 5 or 6 used to swim in lakes and ponds. Ran to jump into the water and right into a wave, naturally i was Knocked down and drugged along the bottom. Came out spitting sand and sea water. Didn't go back into the Ocean for 3 years. But all over that now.

Saw the ocean and mountains the same time when when I joined the USAF at 18 and went to tech school in Monterey, CA. Grew up on the prairies of Minnesota.

If one is to believe what he reads! This question is answered as everyone has seen an ocean except that second hand info about an Iowa kid!

My first signt of the ocean was at age 19 at night. Moved from the desert to Houston and a bunch of us went to Galveston to go surfing after work. Got to feel it before seeing it. I remember the luminescents of passing my hand through the water.

I'm on the other side of the "Never seen the ocean".
Was born in Pensacola on the Gulf of Mexico. Before I graduated from High School I had seen both sides of the Pacific and the Atlantic, a couple of Seas (North, South China), the Great Lakes and the eastern Side of the Mediterranean Sea.
Since then I've added the Caribbean and the rest of the Mediterranean.
Some of them are colder/warmer than others, or saltier/drinkable, or smoother/rougher, but they are all beautiful.

Atlantic at 15 was my first. The undertow almost killed me. That was the first time I saw a gorgeous LIFEGUard up close, not very personable Still good!THAT was Ocean City, and I never missed another Summer w/out going. Excellent boardwalk, above AND Under! Ha!. Then the Gulf is at my front door, now. BEAUTIFUL ALL, as has been said.

Who Needs the Ocean?
I took this photo during an October storm on Lake Ontario:
Still, I do love the ocean - They have much nicer beaches in Nantucket!

Born and raised in Oregon an hour from the coast. Since then had the priveledge to see the atlantic, the gulf coast off Texas, the carribean several times, snorkeled off the gold coast of Australia and islands of Papua New Guines, swam at waikakii and the north coast, visited Singapore, but still think the grandure of the Pacific (even thought it's filled with ice cubes) with it's high rocky cliffs and towering evergreens, is my favorite. But God's creation is all beautiful!

You said it Gary! Where the Giant Redwoods meet the angry Pacific is a very special area. Last summer we spent a week there and were treated to a moose charging along the beach and then deciding to take a swim out in to the breakers!
For anyone who is adventurous and likes light houses, you might want to consider Point Arena California Lodging, Pt. Arena CA Gualala Beach Lodging, Point Arena Lighthouse Oceanfront Lodging, wood burning stoves, pet friendly, satellite tv, Ocean views, Northern Cal pacific coast. We stayed there a few years back and loved it. No cell coverage, no land lines, no TV. They rent out the three old lighthouse keeper cottages right out on the point under the lighthouse and on the cliffs above the breakers. It's the location where the final scene of Mel Gibson's movie "Forever Young" was filmed.
