The political advertisement on gun control and requesting support against it is , I thought, an unacceptable use of the forum. HAVE THE RULES CHANGED??

Haven't seen the ad. However, some ads are contextually sensitive and may not be under the control of the administrators. And ads are what pay the bills around here.

If you're talking about the Ads by Google in the upper center/edges of the pages, what shows up there is controlled by what you view on webpages as you surf the internet or read threads here. The ads are not placed there by iRV2.com.

For example, I was just in the Campgrounds section reading reviews. What I see in the Ads by Google box now are ads for campgrounds & resorts. Earlier today, I was reading threads in the MH - General Discussion forum. A few pages later, the ads were for Class A motorhomes. Even when I'm on other websites, those cookies follow me here & the ads are influenced by the subject of other webpages I was viewing.

Try it. Surf around & see how the ads change over time. You can reduce the number of ad blocks you see by turning off the right column view. User CP / Edit Options.

Oh & I see it's your 2nd post, so

The ads are not put there by the forum or by it's members.. The host (Affinity group?) has sold the advertising space to a service, the ads follow either their rules or ... in some cases the viewer's rules. (Thouse users with Ad-Block add on) The rules of the advertising agency are basically "Anyone who pays us, except porn" and I might add, even the odd porn may sneak through.

So, the moderators here have little, if any, control over the ads,, All they can do is petition the host to ask the advertising service to not include that type of ad.

Information source:: Older threads on basically the same topic.

Use Firefox as your browser and you can turn all that side banners and adds off. Only thing I see is the side bar. No adds. All you have to do is right click your mouse and turn them off.

I took issue with this "what shows up there is controlled by what you view on webpages as you surf the internet " and sent a PM about it. It was explained what was going on and why. I had taken care of the problem prior to their reply by blocking THIRD PARTY cookies. I had concerns about being "watched" and the reassurance from JanetH that the site was not tracking us was satisfactory. For the first few visits I had quite a few pop up warnings but the warnings subsided. You have to apply your third party cookie blocking to the entire site. It does not affect the normal cookies from IRV2 to which I have no objection. A couple of days ago a cookie error did prevent the pages from displaying properly even though the login appeared successful. I cleared the IRV2 cookies and all returned to normal. The "staff" responded to my PM again stating the problem was usually related to cookies and he was correct. That was Route66 who replied.

I use Firefox with Ad Block Protection and see virtually no ads on any website - which to me is a blessing since any time I turn the boob tube or the radio on, I get blasted for minutes at a time
