Trust me when I say having a 4x4 means nothing on ice!

Especially true of black ice. One minute everything is fine and the next - oops. Have used a large towel under drive wheel of car just to get up small incline and out of the way of the next guy to come along - one revolution at a time. Slow going and time spent getting up from ground > than forward progress. Those were the days!

Every winter in Minnesota we do refresher courses on slippery roads. In the metro area, about 500 flunk the first snow storm and another 500 flunk on the second snow storm. Auto body repair is a big business. By the time the third snowfall occurs, the first 500 crash again. It's a very interesting process.
I think the repeat batch of bad drivers move to California and become politicians.

Melted overnight and flash froze. I came out of my garage slowly and straight down to the lamppost. Do not pass Go....Do not collect $200. Never stood a chance.
In fact pay $1000 for the lamp post an $3800 for the truck repairs.

I'm happy to hear that. For a minute there I thought you were going to hook up and go camping.
Sorry about the $$$$ though.
Forgot to say: My electric bill is gong to be higher this month. Nov 30th and I'm still running the AC in the sticks & bricks.

Grew up in North Dakota, did an 18 month stay in Minnesota and learned...In Minnesota, when it rains - look up and a tornado is somewhere above you, when it snows, stay home because the locals don't know how to drive in the first few snow storms, and when the Mayo Doctors say "your son can return home to Colorado" you pack up and leave IMMEDIATELY. The state shut down while we had to stay there, I never seen so many vehicles driving around with EXPIRED tags as I did during that time. And then, try the Outback or Red Lobster in the Coon Rapids/Blaine area and I promise you'll NEVER go again. I have yet to figure out what my great great grandparents were thinking when they came from the old Country and settled in Minnesota, nor have I figured out why a couple of my siblings are calling the place home. I mean, if it's the SNOW and COLD I think it would be much better living NORTH OF THE BOARDER where they are cleaner and nicer. One thing for sure, there is a HUGE difference between the NE of the Cities and Rochester MN. The people are so much more kinder and caring out in the public. Oh almost forgot, I LEARNED to check the date on the food while living in there too, seemed ANYTHING I picked up off the shelf was due to expire within a week or two if not that day. We all were so glad to head home and leave the crazy state. I truly felt sorry for many when the state closed down, we took a couple families to the grocery store and bought them a few hundred bucks worth of food since they were relying on food stamps. The amazing part, all those who caused that shut down still got to keep their jobs.

I kind of like the first snows of the year a few years back,.....when I had my tow truck running.
Snow = $now if you have one.

In Alaska we use Nokian Hakkapeliitta 5, No problems.
We even have them for our bicycles Nokian 106, if you let a little snow and ice keep you inside, you would find yourself inside for 4 or 5 months in AK.
