Wife name on your signature
I see many that have in their signature the name of the wife like: Bob and Susan.
Can I suggest that the wife name be put first?
I bought my motorhome last summer and started to travel in USA. I was very surprised to see at campground people having the name of the man before the name of the wife on post sign. I had never saw this before but it was everywhere. I feel this is agressive to the eye.
I did not use elevators in USA but I am sure the men let the women go first like we do. I am sure this is what I see in american movies. I am sure you would not get used to see men running before women in elevators even after a few months.
What do you think of this suggestion?
I am from Quebec, this is a French province. We have a matriarcal society (matriarcal means mother leads vs patriarcal means father leads) and maybe we are too Matriarcal?
If you agree, maybe we could chain emails and posts to inform people of this new camping rule?

Like any other rule people will ignore it.
The best thing is to let the couple decide how and when they want their names displayed. You know, that free will thing.

You are probably right. Just like free will in Saudi Arabia or in India: men are firsts. LOL .

I don't find it offensive at all no matter which way the names are displayed although I understand your thinking. My name (the DW) is first mainly because I'm the one doing the posting. However, in the USA, it has been tradition to always list the male's name first when writing letters. We've come along way by not signing Mr. & Mrs. (insert man' first and last name). At least the ladies are known by their first names now. LOL.

UM...Let me see here...
Is the point of this thread anti sexism or anti American or both?
Sorry but if I went to Quebec and said that all signs there should be English with French secondary I think I would be told to Faites une randonnée pédestre (take a hike) or some other, less friendly suggestion.
Comparing the US to Saudi Arabia or India is a bit over the top.
This thread will be quite interesting as folks wake up.

Does that mean you wash the dishes? While your wife watches TV.

Like geocacher and several others on iRV2, I'm the one that posts. I then relay info on a need-to-know basis to DH.
What difference does it make & who cares and why?

That's why they make chocolate and vanilla. It's your own individual choice.

There are customs and traditions.
BTW, chivalry is not dead. It just forgets most of the time for some. Not me!

Your choice!!
I'm a Real Estate Broker (retired from computer business) and I get a kick out of preparing documents with ladies names first just to watch reaction...

Just as geocacher said, in USA it is traditional to put "John and Jane Doe", with the man's name first.
In French Canada, OP can do whatever you want.
My real feelings on this, not affecting my sleep at all. Some couples the husband wears the pants, others the wife wears the pants. Whatever works for them.

IMHO...It doesn't make any difference the order and it makes perfect sense that whom ever "manages" an account (on line, banking or whatever) gets "first billing".
On a similar note, I find that DW, DH and other short hand abbreviations are problematic for me. My wife's name is SANDEE not DW. *I* dislike the use of DW or DH for *ME*. Some may agree with me, others don't. That's OK because I don't think the use of those abbreviations is meant to be disrespectful for the most part.
HMMM, maybe I should take our names out and just say DH & DW?
