Thanks! That is very cool. However, I might need to get my meteorologist friend to explain it to me.

This is one put out by the govt for Air Traffic Control use. It is slow to load because there is so much data, but once loaded you can scroll over any location and get instant weather conditions.

A really cool wind map is the Android app called "my radar",,not speed but General strength. Many other neat features. Btw, not affiliated.

I found that Intellicast - Current Winds in United States was the best for my needs. It shows direction and wind speed for the USA. You can also select an area to zoom in on.

Have a nice day - Darrel

Experimental forecast models. Show weatherpatterns and predicted movement. During hurricane season it shows the track and intensity of the individual storms out several days. Hit "submit" to see animation.

If anyone is interested in learning more about Wx and lives snywhere near a US Sail & Power Boat Squadron they offer a very good Wx course.
It is taught by & tailored to boaters but fair to say it's one of the most generic courses they offer.
If not near a squadron or you are a DIY type learner...
The USPS course is based largely on the USA Today Weather Book.
It as well written... intended for the average person... and contains many high quality graphics to help convey the learning points.

NOAA also offers sn online Wx course if interested.
