The following quote has been one of my favorites for many years. My kids know it well. Dedicated to everyone who raised children:

"When I was 18, I couldn't believe how stupid my father was. When I turned 21, I couldn't believe how much that man had learned in three years." - Mark Twain

An idealist is one who, on noticing that a rose smells better than a cabbage, concludes that it will also make better soup.

My lifes motto:

I'd rather be hated for what I believe in than loved for something that I'm not.

A Quote from one of DI's in Marine Corps Boot Camp

If the Marine Corps wanted you to have a wife, we would have issued you one.

Hey, hold my beer and watch this (a Redneck's last words);
Arguing with an idiot is like having a shootout with an unarmed man (for anyone)

"Scraping the bottom of the barrel." (things are really really tight) This comes from the days when meat was processed at home and preserved in layers in rendered fat. When one was scraping the bottom meals were spare.

"A stitch in time saves nine." (mend your things while the mending is easy)

"A penny saved is a penny GOTTEN" (save a penny and you have a penny) often misquoted as penny saved is a penny earned.

"Smoking tailor-mades." (Things are prosperous)

"Don't take any wooden nickles." (be cautious in one's dealings... in other words don't get scammed)
