As my dad used to say, "just because there's snow on the roof, it doesn't mean there's not a fire in the furnace."

Here in our office we have an update to the "watched pot doesn't boil" saying. We say a watched printer doesn't print.

My all time favorite...All generalities including this one are untrue.
